This
Learning Guide is one of a group of marine-oriented programs
offered by Long Bay Power Squadron, a Unit of District 26,
United States Power Squadrons. "Predicted Log Contest
Learning Guide" was authored by Long Bay Squadron member
P/D/C William (Bill) Mullin, AP. The information contained in Chapters 1 through 5 enables the novice predicted logger to participate effectively in predicted log contest. The Long Bay Learning Guide has five parts: Introduction and History, is for any boater who has become interested in predicted log contest. It contains a brief definition of this enjoyable sport, a list of some of the benefits the boater can obtain from participation and a brief history. Basic Predicted Logging, provides an overview of predicted log contest and discusses the basic equipment needed for participation, the general preparation required of the boater in order to participate, and some basic safety considerations. Creating Predicted log Contest, covers how one organization, Long Bay Power Squadron developed a contest and went through the steps to conduct the contest. Calculations for Preparing Predictions, shows the steps one contestant took to prepare his predictions for a contest. Scoring the Contest, shows, step-by-step, one way an electronic spreadsheet can be used to perform the simple calculations needed to score predicted log contest. This course has no prerequisites. |
